It took me about 15 minutes to get all the layers on and get ready. I had 3 layers on the bottom, 2 pairs of socks, 3 shirts, 2 jackets, gloves, head band, and neck band. I also had "hand warmers" for inside the gloves. I headed out about 0850 and drove over to the park and ride where I did most of my marathon training. It's a nice frontage road that runs along the highway and there's very little traffic. Shortly after 0900 I headed out and hoped to get a mile done. Well......that first mile came and went, then the second mile came and went, then the third came and went and I thought; "holy crap, I feel like Forrest Gump out here today" and just kept going for another mile. 4 MILES! NO WALK BREAKS EITHER!!!!
The runner's high I had was phenomenal...something I haven't felt in ages and I truly enjoyed it's return! I had no foot pain. I had no pain anywhere. In fact, I felt like I was just cruising along without a care in the world. I had no music, nothing in my ears. Just me and my body connecting.
I'm thankful. Truly thankful to God for keeping me on a great path and helping me to live my life the way He has always planned. I have more trials and tribulations to come, but I know that I have Him to give me the strength to conquer.
Until next time.......Blessings!
