I have to toot my own horn just a little! 2 weeks ago today, my son had his surgery and I, honestly, didn't think I was going to be able to handle his wound care. Here we are 2 weeks later and that thing is healing GREAT!!!! Today he drove himself to school and made it the whole day. He came home for study hall and lunch, but made it to all his classes. He's walked everyday since his surgery and yesterday he made it for a full 2 miles with me!!! Here he is looking so "happy" about it! This was towards the end and he was getting a little tuckered out at this point.
It didn't help matters much either that I took him on the frontage road I always ran on. It's boring but flat and I wanted distance for him today and not "terrain". Today it's the trails for him at the park!
We go this Friday morning for his "2 week" surgery follow-up appointment and I can't wait to see what they have to say about how things are looking. I hope it's okay. I can barely fit any more of the packing in it! I am thankful to God for giving me the strength and the medical know-how to do what I had to do.
It's Wednesday and it's SNATCH day! Today went like this.......
Warm-up: joint mobility and 100 swings. 1-arm: 10L, transfer, 10R x 5
10L, transfer, 10R x 5 rounds = 100 reps
12L, transfer, 12R x 5 rounds = 120 reps
15L, transfer, 15R x 5 rounds = 150 reps
10L, transfer, 10R, transfer, 10L, transfer, 10R x 1 = 40 reps
Total: 410 snatches
I really wanted to do 5 rounds on that last move but my hands gave out!
Next up was lunch, then ran a few errands and then off to the park! I have been walking/hiking 3-5 miles everyday I have off. Most times I get the 3-4 miles done first by myself and then do the rest with my son. Yesterday I did 3 hilly miles on the streets around my house and then 2 miles with my son after school. This afternoon, I hiked 3.5 miles and even had a "stare-down" with this little guy.......notice his Mom in the background keeping an eye on both of us!
He looks like he's pretty far away, but he's actually right in front of me. Love hiking and never knowing what you're going to run into around each bend! Later, after school, my son and I headed back over to the park. I took him on the short 1 mile loop. I, easily, made my quota of 3-5 miles for the day! I can't even fathom how many miles I put on at work....I'm guessing anywhere from 6-12 depending on what area I have and how busy it it. UGH...but I'm thankful to have a great, rewarding job. And....since it's still National Respiratory Care week, I leave you with this...true, so very, very, very true!!!
Until next time........Blessings!
