There are 135 days until the Cellcom Green Bay 1/2 marathon. Today was day 1 of training!
I'm also working on losing the weight that I let slide back on me in 2012. Now, one does not lose weight by running. One loses weight so they can run better! I know this. I will not be going out to run mile after mile. These are short runs. Just to keep the legs in check. Keep the body reminded of what is to come.
Today's workout went like this:
Started with some heavy kettlebell swings for low reps.
24kg:
2-handed swings 10 reps x 20 rounds for 200 swings.
Then after 1/2 hour of putting all the "winter running" gear on, it was time to head out and do my "2nd" run since my marathon back in October. Ugh....I can't believe how much time has gone by. Good news is....the run was great! It was so damn cold-my kind of weather! I had plenty of layers on. I had both the hand and toe warmers in place. Nothing was showing but my eyes. To inhale that crisp, cold air was awesome. To feel my feet pound the pavement with each step was pure joy. I went 2 miles. Just right. No need to go any farther, and to be honest, I don't think I could have. I can't believe that I haven't run for over 2 months. No wonder I'm so moody! LOL....
All in all, great workout with a heavy swing followed by a small run.
Until next time........Blessings!
Great job Diana!!!! You rock!!!
ReplyDeleteMy lungs have not been enjoying the "cold" (40's and 50's) air this year... It's strange, because it (my asthma) hasn't bothered me the last few years while running (animal reactions - different story). Well, kudos to your lungs for being able to tough it!
ReplyDeleteNice job! I thought of you today as I was running outside and I thought....I love running in the cold. Dare I say, I am enjoying winter. You are probably the only person I know that embraces the snow and cold. I may be joining you on the dark side. : )
