There comes a point when using the 12kg can seem rather "easy", "too light", or just "not much of a challenge"......that's when things must change! I still say that I could easily live with just a 12kg kettlebell and get along just fine! It's all in what you do with it that makes the difference! You can change the pace. You can change up work/rest ratios. You can then get really serious and add her evil twin sister and do DOUBLES!!!!
Today's workout was just that.....
Started out with a single bell to limber things up some and then "she" was added. The evil twin sister who when put together for doubles brings a whole new meaning to using the 12kg!
Warm-up.........joint mobility and stretches
Then:
Circuit as follows:
1 clean + 1 front squat + 1 strict press + 1 negative press
Did 5 reps on L, then transferred and did 5 reps on R. Did a total of 5 rounds for a total of 50 reps each item.
Then it was time to add the evil twin to the party.....
Circuit as follows:
1 dbl clean + 1 dbl front squat + 1 dbl strict press + 1 dbl negative press.
Again, did 5 reps x 5 rounds. Since I used 2 bells instead of switching sides and repeating, the total number of reps were 25, but the amount of weight moved around was doubled! That was fun!
After all that grunt stuff, I decided to do some snatches just for some fun because I love doing them.
12kg: Snatch ladder. 10L/10R, 9L/9R, 8L/8R, 7L/7R, 6L/6R, 5L/5R, 4L/4R, 3L/3R, 2L/2R, 1L/1R.
16kg: 5L/5R x 10 rounds
20kg: 3L/3R x 2 rounds
I'm still working my way back from the "down time" I suffered with pneumonia, but happy with how fast things always come back when you get down to it!
We're getting another 3-5" of snow today, so this afternoon I will be out there finding peace by doing some snowshoeing!
I hope everyone had a Merry Christmas and now as we look at 2013 staring us all in the face, may we all find Peace and Joy in our lives. May we all remember to treat each other with the respect we deserve. May we all remember to take the time to appreciate what we have and help those who are not as fortunate. May we all remember to count our blessings!
Until next year.........Blessings!

I NEED that shirt. HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!!
ReplyDeletehappy new year! having done similar-type workouts lately (cleans, squats, presses - not always with kb's though) i am even more impressed at your diligence to work out so consistently at home! i can definitely tell a slowdown in performance when i workout alone vs in a "class" type setting with some motivation to chase.
