Today is the last day of my fantastic vacation.....bummer, but when it's all done and said, it's time to go back. As much as I hate all the "politics" and "bullshit" that go along with having a job, I'm very thankful to "have" a job and it's a job that I really do love-so it's time to get back to helping people the best way I know.
Last night I was sitting on the couch with the hubs watching Big Brother, I love, love, love that show! We've been counting down the days for it to start! While sitting there my legs were just dieing. Anytime I walked down steps I whimpered like an old lady. I've been "giving her" all week and as usual, while having fun doing it all, it's caught up to this body.
Sunday: 15 mile run in AM and 1/2 mile swim in the afternoon.
Monday: No workout, computer training for work followed by lunch with friends.
Tuesday: 1,000 swings with 24kg.
Wednesday: KB class which consisted of 220 swings and 220 squats. After the class, it was a 4.2 mile hike on state trails.
Thursday: This was going to be a little "recovery" run of 3 miles, which it was but while running I was thinking about how "little" time I've spent in the saddle. Therefore I knew that when I finished the run I would be riding some. While in the middle of my ride, the sun was beating pretty damn good and the humidity was also back wreaking havoc on my poor MV, so I thought to myself.....hmmm, might as well end this in the lake! So my "recovery" run turned into one of my "homemade" triathlons. Worst thing was while filling up my tire, the very end piece of the stem valve broke off in my hand. Crap....I had idea of whether the tire would hold the air or would it slowly leak out leaving me with no ride. I called the bike shop and they confirmed my very thought of NOT riding it......so, it was me and Fred for the "tri". WOW, I've forgotten how heavy Fred is. I can't believe that's all I used to use for these events AND loved it! It was a chore just to keep the speed between 12-14mph. My 15 miles took 1:10. The fastest I've ever gotten with Fred was 55 minutes-that's great for a hybrid.
After the "tri", I took Steve to the shop and got him a new tube and now I'm also all stocked up on my GU and Honey Stingers! Win-win for both of us!
So what's up for my last day? NOT A DAMN THING! In fact, If didn't have to go run an important errand, I would not even be getting dressed! Back to work for tomorrow and Sunday and then.......off for another 3 days! These 12 hour shifts suck and yet at times they rock! Less time at work is always a good thing!
Looking over the week, I need to stop all this crazy stuff. I was toast from throwing that 24kg around 1,000 times and I just kept adding to it. It was hard, I won't lie, teaching that class the following morning-especially the squats. It's time to back way off and get my ass ready for this 26.2 mile event staring me in the face......
"Dear God-you've heard me cry to you, especially during those 1,000 swings you're name was called out quite often, however, please get my head back into the game and steer me down the path I need to follow.....the one with the finisher's medal being placed around my neck"
I hope you all have a great weekend and best of luck to all of you who are out there racing this weekend!
