30 years ago.....

June 12, 1982

Funny how we always remember the "big" events in our lives-down to the details!  Besides the death of my parents, my wedding day was, as I'm sure it is for all us girls, the biggest day of our lives.

"Our song"

I remember the smiles on my parents face this day-I'm confident it was pure pride-or the fact that they were finally getting me out of their house!  Either way, I'm blessed to have had them there for my special day.  What girl wouldn't want her Dad to walk her down the aisle?

Just to back up a little.....here's me bright and early before the ceremony all dressed and ready to get this done!

And here I'm giving my Dad a "goodbye" kiss!  This is a great picture and memento to have for sure!

Here's a really nice picture with my Mom and my sister......I've written lots about my Mom, but this is the first time I've ever posted a picture of her.  She was a very sweet, always happy, lady.  Too damn bad she gave into the obesity thing.  Believe it or not, she weighed 123lbs at her own wedding!

Here's a pic of the entire wedding party!  I had 6 bridesmaid and of course the Maid of Honor!   This is a cool picture, even upside down!  I didn't know where to stop as far as asking my family and friends to stand up, so I made it a big party!  I know you're all diggin' the rainbow theme!  It was the early '80's, don't judge!  LOL

Here's Jeff and I at a location not far away from the church and stuff, it's called Old Falls Historical Village.  It's an old settler's village that has been preserved as now a tourist place and it made for some great pictures.

It's been a great 30 years.  Sure there's been ups and downs-who doesn't have those?  For the most part-it's been an up!  Jeff was a Tool and Die Maker and I was a factory worker making custom made draperies.  I bet that last part surprised you!  Me?  A seamstress?  Haha.....actually, I was really good at making custom made drapes!  Plus, our house had the best drapes!  I started respiratory therapy school in 1988, started working as a therapist in 1989 working at the place I still work at!

Of course having no kids, we had all kinds of  "toys"....like this 1981 Camaro with T-tops!  This had a stick shift and since I drive with 2 feet (left one for the brake, right one for the gas!) I never got to drive it!

And a Harley or two.....

In 1990 we purchased 1.2 acres of land to build a house on.  We didn't start building until 1993 and moved in roughly January of 1994.  Here's our house, that we still live in, during the "landscaping" part!  It's on a wooded lot, so a lot of trees and crap had to be removed to put a driveway and a "yard" in.  Funny to see these pictures and how small the trees were.  Of course it's been 21 years here, so things, I guess, besides us have aged!

It was just the two of us for the first half of this 30 years because I never wanted any of those "ankle biters" called children!  Then around my early 30's, the hormones kicked in and boom.....Motherhood was calling!  Here's what came of that......Haha.....gotta admit, he's a cutie!  Life sure changed at this point.  You never fully understand what being a parent is all about until the day you become one!

You can't even read the Sunday paper without them laying in your way!  Love this picture!

Our lives have been just like any others, I'm sure.  Working and raising the kid!  We still hang with all the friends from the wedding photos!  We all, most of us, went to the same high school.  We all pretty much stood up in each others weddings.  We all went to each others bridal and baby showers.  People have come and gone from our lives-we've been touched by so many throughout the last 30 years.  It's weird to think that we're in our 50's.  You really start to feel the circle they call life!

So what did we do for our big day?  We did what we wanted to.  Went out for breakfast and we're going out for dinner.  Went to a auto museum to see the exhibit of Southeastern WI stock car display-as we are NASCAR fans!  Ran a few errands and of course a tattoo!

It's Jeff's initial on my ring finger.  I wanted to get "matching" ones, but he doesn't like a tattoo where you can't cover it up.  Me?  I don't care where they are!  Of course you see I have my hand on the best thing, besides Jeff of course, to come into my life!  One of my bitches-the kettlebell.

I've babbled enough........just one more pic!  This will be Jared and his wife taking me out for a Sunday drive when I hit my goal of turning 100!

LMAO.......I love this picture!
